This movie come across somewhat like the movie The Golden Compass did but only more silly. It totally lacked an exciting story, it felt distant, cold, and I was never engaged with the characters. That could be because the acting was some of the worst I’ve seen in a while – totally amateurish. The fighting scenes all looked pale compared even to the worst Jackie Chan movie and the special effects definitely take a back seat to any blockbuster Jerry Bruckheimer or Roland Emmerich ever produced. Don’t be fooled by next week’s Box Office Results as the studio is pretty desperate by releasing this film on Wednesday in order to get two extra days of box office receipts plus they’re charging an extra $3.00 a seat since it’s being released in 3-D. Speaking of which, several times during the movie I actually took the 3-D glasses off because the scenes were too dark and muddy to enjoy – outside of one or two shots this isn’t a 3-D movie but rather another case of a studio taking advantage of the movie goers by charging a higher ticket price. The only good news I can report about this film is that M. Night Shyamalan doesn’t make a cameo appearance in the film.
